About the Artist

Résumé

Carol studied art at the University of Northern Iowa and has continued her education and love of art throughout her life.  She has studied art in several states in the U.S., as well as internationally.

In 1994 Carol and her husband, Bob, had the opportunity to live abroad.  While living in Hong Kong, Carol furthered her studies in the art of handmade paper.  Since handmade paper began in China in the year 105 AD, she wanted to learn the “old” way of making handmade paper. Taking classes from British/Chinese proved to be very interesting.  Also while living in Hong Kong, Carol conducted handmade paper workshops to ex-pat women through the American Women’s Association.  In 1996 Carol and Bob moved to Budapest, Hungary, where Carol also studied handmade paper makers and also taught paper classes though the International Women’s Club Foundation and the American Women’s Association of Budapest. One of Carol’s most unusual experiences was teaching classes through an interpreter at a deaf orphanage in Budapest. Carol’s unique style of art has become well known internationally as well as in the United States.

Carol is a member of the Arkansas in Education Roster and the Arkansas Art on Tour Roster. She has earned several National Awards and State Awards in watercolor and handmade paper such as; Baber Award, Helen Frater Award, Strathmore Award, Best of Shows, and The Artists Magazine Honors.
